Now that OPTIMA batteries offers a lightweight ORANGETOP lithium battery for motorcycles, Yamaha R6 owners have some direct-fit upgrade options for their bikes. The Yamaha YZF-R6 basically used one of two batteries during its entire production run, starting with a QUAD12 ORANGETOP for the 1999 Yamaha R6. That same size was used continuously throughout the production life of the R6, until the 2017 model year.
In 2017, the Yamaha R6 battery changed to smaller, lighter QUAD 7 ORANGETOP battery, which continued to be used until the end of production in 2020. In addition to offering more power in a lighter package, the OPTIMA ORANGETOP lithium motorcycle has several other appealing features, including the CPR System. The CPR system will automatically disconnect the battery from any power draws, retaining enough energy to start your R6 one more time and get you home safely.
