OPTIMA's 2019 Search for the Ultimate Street Car, presented by Advance Auto Parts, visits seven tracks across the country, but there may not be another stop as competitive as the field we saw at NCM Motorsports Park. We saw 27 cars at this event that also ran at the event at Daytona International Speedway and 25 of the 27 had lower point totals than they had at Daytona. What happened? A bunch of fast cars and a bunch of really nice cars showed up and grabbed a bunch of points.
While some, like Mike DuSold's Camaro and Danny Popp's Corvette grabbed a lot of points in both the Lingenfelter Design & Engineering Challenge and the timed segments, others, like Jim McIlvaine's Cyclone and John Laughlin's Tesla Model 3 grabbed a lot of points in one or the other. None of those cars were at Daytona and there were plenty of other examples of cars & trucks that made points very hard to come by in any of the competitive segments. The next stop is Pike's Peak International Raceway and there's no guarantee things will get any easier there. Check out the top finishers and photos from NCM Motorsports Park below and head over here to see the complete results and over here to see more photos.
