OPTIMA offers direct-fit replacement batteries for most Jeeps on the road today, including the 2021 Jeep Wrangler. In an era when many auto manufacturers are offering consumers fewer engine options, Jeep is one of the holdouts, offering a wide variety of configurations and displacements from four cylinders to eight in gas, diesel or hybrid variations.
Generally speaking, most Jeep Wrangler batteries for the 2021 model year will be either an H6/Group 48, which OPTIMA offers as a DH6 YELLOWTOP upgrade or an H7/94R, which OPTIMA offers as a DH7 YELLOWTOP upgrade. Either battery will have no issue turning over any Jeep engine, from the 2.0-liter four cylinder up to the 6.4-liter Hemi. However, Jeep Wranglers that come with start/stop will typically use the DH6 YELLOWTOP (and often another auxiliary battery), while Wranglers without start/stop will typically have the DH7 YELLOWTOP.
Dimensionally, the DH6 and DH7 batteries are very similar, but not identical. The DH7 is 12.44 inches long, while the DH6 is 10.94 inches long. Both batteries share the same specifications for height and width and many modern vehicles that could be equipped with either battery, may have bracket mounting locations for either battery. We've also found some European automakers will vary which battery size they install in their vehicles, based solely on product availability, so it's possible you may be able to replace a DH6 with a DH7 and vice versa. The DH7 will offer slightly more cranking power (880CCA vs 800CCA) and reserve capacity (80Ah vs 72Ah) than the DH6, but it comes with a slightly higher price tag.
Either battery will serve you well, but the key to maximizing battery performance and lifespan is proper voltage maintenance. All OPTIMA YELLOWTOP batteries are considered fully-charged at about 13.0-13.2 volts and regular use of a quality battery maintenance device will go a long way toward making your battery go a long way. We're so confident this is true, if you buy an OPTIMA battery from us and purchase an OPTIMA 1200-series battery charger from us at the same time, we'll extend the free replacement warranty coverage on your OPTIMA battery by an additional year!
