Ford's newest generation of Broncos has taken clear aim at a market Jeep long had cornered and they seem to be making a lot of headway. Between the Ford Bronco Sport and all the different versions of the Ford Bronco, Ford seems to offer something for everyone. When it comes to Ford Bronco batteries, we're doing our best to offer great battery upgrades for all the different versions.

Almost every Ford Bronco Sport on the road will use an H6 battery, for which we offer a great upgrade in the form of our DH6 YELLOWTOP. The larger Ford Broncos will typically use either our DH6 or DH7 YELLOWTOP, depending on how they are equipped. For instance, Ford Broncos with a 3.0-liter V6 engine will only use a DH7 YELLOWTOP, while those with the smaller 2.7-liter V6 or four-cylinder engines may use either the DH6 or DH7, depending on how they are equipped.

How can you tell which battery is in your Ford Bronco? The H6 and H7 batteries are identical in every measurement, except for the width of the battery, as you look at it from the front. In other words, if you measure the distance between the terminals, H6 battery terminals will be about 9 inches apart, while the H7 battery terminals will be about 10 inches apart (please don't touch the terminals with any metallic measuring device).

If your Bronco can accommodate either battery, you'll have to decide which one is best for your vehicle. Either battery will offer more than enough cranking amps for any engine, but the DH7 is slightly larger, heavier and offers more cranking power and reserve capacity than the DH6. That would likely only be an important consideration, if your Bronco has significant aftermarket electrical accessories, like a winch, auxiliary lighting, a dash cam, aftermarket stereo, etc... If your Bronco is basically stock and can accommodate a DH6 battery, that should work great as an upgrade.

Whatever battery you need or choose will see maximum performance and lifespan, if you keep voltage properly-maintained to at least 13.0 volts whenever possible. We're so confident this is true, we will add an additional year of free-replacement warranty coverage to your OPTIMA battery, if you purchase a 1200-series OPTIMA charger from us at the same time.
