The OPTIMA Ultimate Street Car Invitational, presented by Advance Auto Parts, has been called a lot of things over the years. Some folks have used the acronym "OUSCI" while others use the term "OPTIMA Street Car Challenge." While it is true that the OUSCI is sponsored by OPTIMA and involves street cars (meaning street-legal cars & trucks, not trolleys), the "Street Car Challenge" doesn't really specify what people are referring to when used.
Some folks use the OPTIMA Street Car Challenge as an all-encompassing phrase, referring to both our qualifying series (OPTIMA's Search for the Ultimate Street Car, presented by Advance Auto Parts), as well as the OUSCI championship event. Others may use it to describe either the qualifying series (aka DriveOPTIMA) or the OUSCI, but not the other. One could see where confusion might enter into the picture, if someone ran in a DriveOPTIMA event in Pittsburgh eight years ago, but refers to their car as having competed in the OPTIMA Street Car Challenge, which others might interpret as meaning the vehicle won or qualified to compete in the pinnacle event in Las Vegas, when that might not have been the case at all.
So let the record show, we have some idea, but not a definitive idea of what people are referring to, when they say, "OPTIMA Street Car Challenge." It may be our DriveOPTIMA qualifying series, the OUSCI in Las Vegas or both.
