Today's question comes from Steve B., who asks, "I have a 2005 Jeep Rubicon with an 8k winch, four add-on lights and onboard air. I'm thinking about jumping in to an OPTIMA battery but not sure which one to look at. Can you help? Your website calls for a REDTOP Group 25 but reading more, the site says a YELLOWTOP for deep cell applications. Not sure what constitutes a deep cell application but assume you do. So, what do you recommend?"

Thanks for asking Steve (and we wish more asked the same question). While our REDTOP batteries are great for the vast majority of applications on the road today, they are not designed or warrantied for deep-cycle use, which would definitely include winching. For that reason, we strongly recommend our YELLOWTOP batteries, which will provide plenty of cranking amps to get your Jeep going, while also offering the reserve capacity and cycling ability to get you out of tough spots with your winch.
