With the release of OPTIMA's all-new ORANGETOP lithium powersports batteries, OPTIMA now offers a direct-fit battery upgrade for the Suzuki GSX-R750 motorcycle. Whether you have an early-production bike or one of the newest off the line, the QUAD12 ORANGETOP is the correct battery for your application, including the GSX-R750Z.
At just 2.2 pounds, the OPTIMA ORANGETOP is about 50-60% lighter than a traditional flooded battery and completely sealed. Like all of the ORANGETOP batteries, it comes with quad terminals to make installation a snap and it also has OPTIMA's patented POWERLINK system, which offers several important features.
The POWERLINK cable can be mounted remotely and has a port to connect an OPTIMA charger, so there's no digging to gain access to the terminals and trying to get aligator clips to clamp on securely. The POWERLINK cable also has an LED light, which lets you know if the battery is charged or in need of a charge. If your bike doesn't see daily use, the POWERLINK connection also allows you to turn the battery off, so nothing can draw current from the battery as your bike sits.
Another great feature found in OPTIMA ORANGETOP motorcycle batteries is the OPTIMA CPR system, which automatically disconnects the battery from current draws and holds enough energy in reserve to give you one more start and get your bike home safely. The QUAD12 ORANGETOP also packs plenty of cranking power with 380 Pulse Hot Cranking Amps on tap.
While some other brands may present a "CCA" or cold cranking specification for their batteries, those are likely estimates, as we could not find batteries that could deliver their rated cold cranking amps for 30 seconds at 0°F. Pulse Hot Cranking Amps is a more accurate measurement for motorcycle batteries anyway, most bikes start in less than one second and PHCA measures for five seconds in temperatures more consistent with motorcycle use.
Lightweight, powerful batteries that are packed with features are nice, but most riders also put a lot of value on a battery that lasts. To that end, we have done extensive lab testing, to make sure these batteries can last at least up to five times as long as a traditional lead-acid battery. While many battery brands rely on their cell supplier testing data of individual cells, we believe a more accurate test of real-world use is to test the entire pack of cells together, as they would be used in the battery. If there's a weak cell in the pack, it will drag down the other cells and the test results, so testing the entire pack not only tests the performance of the cells, but their consistency.
We went beyond 10,000 battery cycles with only a 20% reduction in performance, which should give riders the confidence that their ORANGETOP will go the distance.
