OPTIMA's ORANGETOP motorcycle battery line covers more than 95% of the market across six different sizes, including the Suzuki Hayabusa, also known as the Suzuki GSX1300R. The first generation of Hayabusas use the OPTIMA QUAD12 ORANGETOP, through the 2007 model year. Starting in the 2008 model year, like the bike pictured above, the Suzuki Hayabusa went to a slightly larger ORANGETOP QUAD14, which it continues to use through at least the 2023 model year.
Weighing in at just 2.2 and 3.0 pounds respectively, both of these lithium batteries offer a lot more cranking power in a lot lighter package. Overall weight and weight distribution may not matter much to a street cruiser weighing over 800 pounds already, but for a sport bike that weighs less than 600 pounds, having less weight onboard and a lower center of gravity makes a difference.
Perhaps the best feature about OPTIMA ORANGETOP batteries is the POWERLINK cable that allows you to turn the battery on or off, check approximate state of charge and connect to an OPTIMA charger, without having to remove your seat to access the battery. While an OPTIMA charger is not required for ORANGETOP batteries, only battery chargers or charger settings designed specifically for lithium 12-volt batteries should be used on ORANGETOP batteries.
